Dudley Road - Billerica, MA
This beautiful road has a reputation among the local teens for creepiness and tales of murder. It is a really beautiful road for walking or biking and has horse farms, an old burial ground, a bee farm, a tree farm, a convent, a Gropius house, a historical mansion, a town park with walking paths down to the Concord River and tales of nuns hanging from trees. The Billerica end is cool, the Bedford side is mundane. Do the 2.5 mile loop from Route 4 in Bedford to Route 4 in Billerica, - More

Yankee Candle - South Deerfield, MA
This is the flagship Yankee Candle. They're fun to go to anytime, but its really awesome to visit around Christmas. They've got tons of stuff and of course tons of candles, but they also have the coolest decorations and its neat to just hang around there even if you aren't going to buy anything (which is hard). Yes, its a store, but honestly, spend a couple hours there, its like a cheap date. - More
Walter's Hot Dogs - Mamaroneck, NY
Great hot dogs, wonderful architecture. Take out only. Great nostalgia. Open since 1919.
The Boys Farmers Market - Delray Beach, FL
The Boys Market is amazing. This place is jam-packed most all the time. The fruit and veggies are fresh and reasonably priced. There are helpers everywhere giving out samples. The bakery is luscious. The cooked food is to die for. I use to take my sons there when they were about 3 and 5 to sample all the different flavors. They happily tried many new and different things because it was just a sample and a cute tiny spoon. So I'd spend about $50 for a cart full of food, and we would have had a fun outing and get our fill of good foods. Oh - I almost forgot the train ... several vintage train sets are installed overhead ... and bits of Americana on the walls. It's truly a feast on many levels. Go with your patience and a smile, and you won't be disappointed. - More

Elmwood - Cambridge, MA
Enormous mansion which is now the official residence of the President of Harvard University. Before that, it was the home of American poet/diplomat/critic James Russell Lowell, a friend of Longfellow and a professor at Harvard. Before that, it was the former home of Elbridge Gerry, vice-president of the USA under James Madison, and who was the namesake of "Gerrymandering." - More
Longfellow National Historic Site - Cambridge, MA
A surprisingly not well-known tourist spot in Cambridge which doesn't get a lot of visitors. The house is PERFECTLY preserved from the time of the poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow ("The Village Blacksmith," "The Song of Hiawatha," "Paul Revere's Ride," etc) and is full of impressive artwork, pricey furniture, and 10,000 books from the 19th century. The house was also used as George Washington's first headquarters during the early part of the American Revolution. Amazing garden in the backyard. There's also a park across the street. Great spot for a picnic, and definitely take the tour - it's only $3 per person! - More

There are two buildings and a rock garden. You can walk around a pond and check out the flowers and koi fish and there are great statues by the pagoda and in the woods. A little on the pricey side for Easton, but Loco Tapas has really tasty food. The Patatas Bravas are amazing.

Ringing Rocks State Park - Upper Black Eddy, PA
from Wikipedia: Ringing Rocks Park According to the Unmuseum, "In 1965 a geologist named Richard Faas from Lafayette College in nearby Easton, Pennsylvania, took a few of the rocks back to his lab for testing. He found that when the rocks were struck they created a series of tones at frequencies lower than the human ear can hear. Only because the tones interact with each other is a sound high pitched enough to be audible generated. Though Faas's experiments with the rocks explained the nature of the tones he was unable to figure out the specific physical mechanism in the rock that made them, though scientists suspect it has something to do with stress within the rocks." check out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ringing_Rocks_Park http://www.unmuseum.org/ringrock.htm (all info courtesy of these two sites and copyright remains with them) - More
