Edgar Poe (before the Allan family) was born in Boston, right next to Boston Commons! It's kind of ironic, considering how much he hated the Boston writers. But, anyway, the approximate location is now marked by a cheap, dirty plaque on what is now a luggage store at the corner of Boylston and Carver St.

The luggage store is now a taco joint, and the corner of the road (Charles St. and Boylston) is now officially named Edgar Allan Poe Square.
